Tony Petrello’s Dedication To Fighting Periventricular Leukomalacia
Tony Petrello is a university of Yale graduate. It is at this institution that he acquired his bachelor of science degree in mathematics. Tony Petrello went on to earn a Master of science degree at the same University. At Harvard’s school of law Years later Tony graduated from with a Juris Doctor.
In 1979 Tony joined Baker and McKenzie, this is a law firm that has specialized in corporate law, international arbitration not forgetting taxation, it is at this company that Tony’s career started. In 1986, Tony was promoted to a managing partner at Bakers and McKenzie. Despite all this success, Tony Petrello resigned from the position and subsequently moved to Nabors industries in 1991.
In 1991, Tony’s career at Nabors industries began as an elected member of the company’s board of directors. Tony also has a seat on the executive committee of the Nabors Industries. In 2003 Tony was promoted to the position of Deputy Chairman of the company. Tony has been the president of the firm since 1991. In 2011, he took over the position of Chief Executive Officer. Since 2012, Tony Petrello has been serving as both chairman of the board and chairman of the executive committee.
Recently, Tony Petrello donated $5 million and had vowed to add an addition $2 million to a research initiative. Some might think that Tony has been a charitable mood in recent times. Tony is planning on leading fundraising efforts to research initiatives for specific medical causes. This means that his contribution to supporting this action isn’t limited to providing financial assistance.
Every morning when Tony’s 8-year-old daughter eats her breakfast, he acknowledges how miraculous life tends to be. Last year September, Tony’s daughter Carena learned how to eat solid food through sheer will and determination. This was an uphill task and required a lot of practice and hours to be put in.
At birth (24 weeks), Carena weighed only 20 ounces. She was later diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia with physicians. This is a condition that affects children born prematurely and is caused when inadequate blood flow to the brain occurs. When the blood flow to the brain is insufficient, oxygen required to aid the development of the brain becomes unavailable. This is what led to Carena to develop Cerebral palsy which has been affecting her brains development. As of now, Tony Petrello and his wife are dedicating their time and life to finding the answers to what Carena and other Kids in her position have to face.
